Gocek with chums, what did we think?

For anyone who hasn’t been to Turkey, you are missing out. You will not find more welcoming and helpful people anywhere. As for Gocek bay and the gulf of Fethiye, it is a truly beautiful place. For myself and Ellison it’s been 3 years since we were here and we’ve missed it. For Andy it was his first time in Turkey and I suspect he’ll be back.

The sailing has been great, we’ve pretty much only used the engine to charge the batteries. The boat, SusiJJ, has been great. As she is managed by Erkan and Portway we expected nothing less.

I promised Andy he would be able to sail by the end of the week and I think I lived up to my promise. It was great to be able to introduce Andy and Rosie to sailing in the med and why we love it so much. We don’t normally share our boats with others, but this week has been very special and although a boat is a small space it hasn’t been an issue at all.

At dinner last night (Kebap Hospital) we had a secret ballot for each of us to name our favourite place. We all chose somewhere different because it’s so hard to choose.

This week was of course very important for another reason. At one of our favourite places in the world I asked Ellison to marry me and she said yes.

So it’s goodbye to Gocek, but for sure we know we’ll be back.
